A Hot Number

So it's 1 am and I'm thinking of running out to the kiln to see what happened with my first "open bowl". Not sure if that's what others will call it but that's okay. I hope its not a mess of totally extruded globs of glass. But if it is I can make some really funky jewelry out of it.

I started with white opal and clear red glass in strips. I tack fused and wasn't happy with the finish. I re-fired it and did a full fuse and was much happier with the outcome. Now I am slumping it into a mold. I will share the pics when I get it out.

My kiln is not in the garage part of our house but in a detached garage on our property. I walked all the way out in the rain and dark and it's not ready yet. It needs to be below 100 degrees before I can lift the lid. As you can tell It's been firing for about 13 and 1/2 hours. I guess I'll get a look at it when I wake up.
